Background

Cambridge Advanced is the pinnacle of our academic program, designed specifically for learners aged 16 to 19. This stage is focused on preparing students for university and higher education through the globally renowned Cambridge International AS & A Level qualifications. The curriculum shifts from broad foundational learning to deep, intensive subject mastery, requiring students to develop higher-order thinking skills, independent research habits, and the intellectual maturity expected by top universities worldwide.

Options

At the Advanced level, students take complete control of their academic trajectory. Rather than studying a broad range of compulsory subjects, students specialize by selecting three to four subjects they are deeply passionate about and that directly align with their future career or university goals. This highly flexible approach allows students to build a bespoke academic profile, whether they wish to focus entirely on the sciences, immerse themselves in the humanities, or create a multidisciplinary portfolio.

While there are no strictly compulsory subjects at the A-Level stage, the academic expectations are exceptionally high. To succeed in their examinations and secure placements at top-tier universities, students must master essential competencies:

Guided Teaching Hours & Independent Study

The structure of a student's week changes significantly in the Advanced phase, designed specifically to mirror a university environment. While each A-Level subject receives extensive guided learning hours with specialist educators—combining rigorous lectures, interactive seminars, and advanced laboratory work—students are also granted designated independent study periods. This structure teaches crucial time-management skills, requiring students to take responsibility for reading beyond the syllabus, conducting independent research, and thoroughly preparing for their final examinations.

Assessment Opportunities

Cambridge International AS & A Levels form the basis of our Advanced assessment. Students typically take AS Level exams at the end of their first year, and full A Level exams at the end of the second year. These assessments are rigorous, requiring deep conceptual understanding and the ability to apply knowledge to novel, unseen scenarios rather than simply recalling facts.
